South Pike County School District Holds Special Meeting, Approves Resignations and New Hires

The South Pike County School District Board held a special meeting on Monday evening, April 7, 2025, where several key decisions were made regarding staff changes and school operations for the upcoming year.

The board first addressed staff resignations, approving the resignation of Adam Morris, effective April 4, 2025; Brookelyn Cox, effective April 2, 2025; Gene Strode, effective at the end of the current school year; and Lynn Gleba, also effective at the end of the school year. The motion to accept the resignations passed unanimously with a 5-0 vote.

Following the resignations, the board moved forward with staffing decisions for the next school year. Kevin Bright was hired as the new boys’ basketball coach and assistant football coach for the 2025-2026 school year. The motion was made by board members Scott Maroon and seconded by Barbie Baxter, with the vote passing 5-0.

Additionally, the board approved the hiring of Mckenzie May as the inclusion/resource teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The motion was made by board members Alyssa Duggan and seconded by Barbie Baxter, also passing with a 5-0 vote.

In a final item of the meeting, the board approved revisions to the 2025-2026 school calendar. The motion to approve the revisions was made by board members Alyssa Duggan, seconded by Wes Campbell, and passed 5-0.
