Man Arrested in Nashville Domestic Violence Incident
A Nashville man is in custody following a domestic violence incident that occurred late Friday morning on April 4th, 2025.
According to a report from the Nashville Police Department, Officer David Shelby was dispatched to a residence on Carver Circle at approximately 10:30 a.m. for a possible domestic battery in progress.
Upon arrival, Officer Shelby made contact with a visibly injured woman outside the residence. The woman, who is not being identified to protect her privacy, was bleeding from her hand and leg and reported that she had been physically assaulted by her boyfriend inside the apartment.
The victim reportedly stated that the assault continued until she was able to break free and get a neighbor to call 911. She also provided officers with video and audio evidence from home security cameras, which reportedly show the suspect physically restraining her, grabbing her by the neck, and throwing her to the ground while she screamed for him to let her go. She also reported that the suspect had restricted her breathing during the attack.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly taken the victim’s phone to prevent her from calling for help. When Officer Shelby made contact with the suspect, the phone was found in his possession.
The suspect, 30-year-old Xavier Jones, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Howard County Jail. He faces charges such as aggravated assault on a family or household member and interference with emergency communications.
The investigation is ongoing.
