Pike County Quorum Court Reviews Treasurer’s Report, Approves Vehicle Auction and Equipment Purchase
The Pike County Quorum Court met Monday evening for their regular monthly session, covering financial updates and approving several key items.
County Treasurer Loletia Rather presented the February report, showing the County General Fund ended with just over 1.5 million dollars, down from a beginning balance of 1.7 million. The County Road Fund also saw a decrease, ending with just over 516 thousand dollars, while the Landfill Fund increased slightly to more than 466 thousand.
Justices of the Peace voted unanimously to accept the report.
Eva Langley from the Extension Office updated the quorum on staffing changes. She announced the resignation of Christina Myrkle as 4-H Program Assistant. Shannon Ballard, the former office administrative assistant, is stepping into that role, and her former position will be advertised soon.
Sheriff Travis Hill received approval to auction eight retired patrol units. The auction will be handled by local auctioneer Nick Fowler and promoted both in newspapers and online. The motion passed with an 8-0 vote.
And after some discussion, the court approved Ordinance 2025-7 to purchase a Hamm roller for $45,000. Justices Paul Baker and Johnny Plyler noted the county expects to receive FEMA reimbursement at a rate of $155 per hour—making the purchase more cost-effective than continuing to rent similar equipment at $3,000 per week. The ordinance passed 7 to 1, with Justice Seth Kirkham voting no.
