South Pike County School Board Approves Staffing and Salary Actions at April Meeting
The South Pike County School Board held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, addressing several key personnel and financial matters in preparation for the upcoming school year.
Superintendent Tanya Wilcher presented the annual audit report, which was described as clean with no major findings, reflecting strong financial oversight within the district.
Board members unanimously approved the classified salary schedule and the certified salary stipends and extra salaries as presented. The motions were made by board members Alyssa Duggan and Robert Silva respectively, with both passing 7-0.
In other personnel matters, the board voted to adopt a resolution to hire Lexie Bahloul as a speech pathologist for the 2025–2026 school year. The motion passed with a 6-0 vote, with one board member abstaining.
The board also approved the rehiring of the classified staff list as submitted. That motion, made by Duggan and seconded by Barbie Baxter, also passed unanimously.
Two new hires were approved for teaching positions. The board voted 6-1 to hire Hannah Taylor as an Inclusion/ELA Special Education teacher and Jordan Shanks as a Science/PE teacher. Alyssa Duggan voted “no” on the motion.
Additionally, the board voted 7-0 to approve 30 extra days to the contract of Buddy Ray, a certified retired teacher, extending his support within the district.
