Nashville Woman Arrested for Domestic Battering After Welfare Check

A Nashville woman was arrested on April 25 following a welfare check and investigation by the Nashville Police Department into an alleged incident of child abuse.

According to authorities, Lieutenant Clint Tedford of the Nashville Police Department responded to a welfare concern involving a 12-year-old girl after her school bus driver reported the child was crying and did not want to return home. When Lt. Tedford made contact, the girl was visibly upset but refused to speak.

Shortly afterward, off-duty Nashville Police Officer Josh Dorse reportedly contacted Lt. Tedford and relayed information from a neighbor who claimed to have witnessed 30 year old Megan Hill, the child’s mother, strike her daughter.

Lt. Tedford reviewed surveillance footage from the apartment complex, which showed Hill allegedly hitting the child in the back of the head with a closed fist as they walked down the sidewalk near their residence.

Hill was later arrested and transported to the Howard County Detention Center. Hill was charged with Domestic Battering in the Second Degree.

The investigation is ongoing.
