Nashville FFA Members Showcase Achievements at Rotary Club Ahead of Annual Fundraiser
Three members of the Nashville chapter of the FFA spoke Wednesday at the Nashville Rotary Club meeting.
The speakers were sophomore Reed Webb, junior Avery Morris and senior Blakely Reich.
Webb recently competed in and won the Arkansas inaugural auctioneer Career Development Event at the state FFA Convention. He said he competed and won the first competition he was in at the Arkansas State Fair. He competed against 32 other competitors in the state at Hot Springs and placed in the Top Ten, which qualified him to compete in the state competition. Webb will now compete at the National FFA Convention in Chicago, Illinois this summer.
Reich is the vice-president of the Nashville chapter and competed on the Ag Mechanic team, which won three competitions this year. He said they worked over 180 hours on their flatbed.
Avery Morris spoke about the livestock showing portion of FFA. She said there were more people showing this past year at the county fair and there was over 65 head of cattle. Morris said she was currently raising four animals and she discussed how she treats them.
The Nashville FFA chicken dinner and auction is tonight at the Nashville High School cafeteria. They will start serving chicken dinners at 6:30 pm and the auction will begin at 7:30. Dinners are $5 a plate and there are over 75 items that have been built by FFA students that will be auctioned off to raise money of the Nashville chapter.
