Howard County Quorum Court Approves Budget Adjustment, Considers Airport Grant

The Howard County Quorum Court convened for their regular monthly meeting yesterday, where Justices of the Peace approved a key amendment to the county’s 2025 operating budget and discussed infrastructure funding opportunities.

One of the main agenda items was the unanimous passage of an ordinance amending Ordinance 2024-14, which governs the upcoming 2025 Howard County Operating Budget. The amendment adds $3,428.57 to the “Other Miscellaneous” line of the Juvenile Intake Officer’s budget.

Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton also updated the court on the opportunity for a 90/10 matching grant to improve the Howard County Airport. If approved, the county would only be responsible for 10 percent of the total project cost, with the state covering the remaining 90 percent.

Following discussion, the Quorum Court approved a motion to move forward with the grant application.

Later in the meeting, Judge Pinkerton read a report from Developing Howard County Economic Director Vanessa Weeks.

The Quorum Court adjourned after reviewing additional departmental reports, with more grant and budget discussions expected in future meetings.
