Dierks School Board Meets For January
Monday night, the members of the Dierks Board of Education evaluated the performance of Superintendent Jody Cowart.
Following a lengthy executive session, board members described Cowart’s performance as proficient and voted to re-hire him for 1-year which extends his current contract through June of 2023.
Earlier during the meeting, Cowart reported the district legal balance was down about $34,000 from this same month last year but the building fund had a healthy balance of over three million dollars.
Cowart also reported all five of the board members had received their required training for the year. He also informed Southwest Arkansas Radio that it was an honor to have such a dedicated board to work with.
High School Principal, Todd Finley reported Mrs. Bailey had received a grant in the amount of $688.10 for the purchase of equipment for her AP Biology class. JoAnn Walters Elementary Principal Lori Finley reported attendance increased during the first semester.
Board members also approved the transfer of two students from the De Queen School District to the Dierks School District.
