Howard Memorial Board Meets For January Session

During the monthly meeting of the Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, CEO Debra Wright reported DaVita Dialysis informed her that it would not be feasible for them to open a dialysis center in Nashville. Wright said DaVita informed her that a new center would require a two million dollar investment and since DaVita has recently expanded their center in Hope, they didn’t feel it would be a profitable expansion.

Wright announced OB/GYN Dr. Jennifer Thompson informed her that she would not be conducting a satellite clinic in Nashville.

Board members were informed that HMH was a finalist for an Arkansas Business Health Care Heroes Award in the Small Rural Hospitals with less than 100 beds category. The winners will be announced April 2nd in Little Rock.

HMH CFO Bill Criag reported the hospital had a strong fiscal month in December.

Wright also reported Howard County Judge Kevin Smith had signed a new 10-year lease with the hospital and that HMH had been awarded Education Recognition from the American Diabetes Association through its Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Program. Wright said Denise Graves spearheaded this project.

CNO Alesha Collins has been named to the Arkansas Center for Nursing Board and was featured in a recent article on Leadership Perspectives in the winter 2019 edition of Arkansas Hospitals magazine.
