Nashville School Board Deals With Personnel Matters

The Nashville School Board met in special session Monday afternoon to consider several personnel matters.

Resignations were accepted from primary teacher Dacia Strickland, Tracey Upton as special education aide and Richard Strickland as assistant high school football coach and classroom teacher. Upton’s resignation was effective March 31st and Richard Strickland’s resignation was effective April 3rd.

Eight positions were also filled Monday. Aaron Worthen was named as the boys head basketball coach. He replaces Damon Williams who retired last month. Worthen served as the junior high boys head coach last season.

The board also filled four primary school teaching positions Monday with the employment of Karen Allen, Amber Mishler, Sarah Matlock and Rachel Neeley.

Two positions at the junior high school were also filled. Lisa Hagler fills a special education position and Kynnedi Gordon was hired for a language arts position at junior high. The board also voted to employ Megan Stanton as a special education aide.

The hirings followed a 48 minute executive session.

Social distancing was utilized at Monday’s meeting. Attendance was limited to only ten people including the five school board members, superintendent Doug Graham, assistant superintendent Joe Kell, administrative secretary Cassandra Evans and representatives of local media. The meeting room was configured so that everyone in attendance sat at least six feet apart.
