Pike County Makes Salary Change For Sheriff’s Investigator

The Pike County Quorum Court has given approval for a salary adjustment within the sheriff’s office. At Monday’s quorum court meeting, Sheriff Travis Hill presented a request to increase his criminal investigator’s pay. The amount requested was just over $2,260. The figure includes the salary along with benefits such as Social Security matching, taxes and retirement. The needed money will be transferred from the part-time salaries line item in the budget and will not require any new funds. All seven j.p.’s present voted in favor of the request.

The sheriff also said he is working with deputies in his department to use comp hours that have been accumulated in recent months while the sheriff’s department has the ability to use the school resource officer.

A shortage of road department employees was also addressed Monday. County Judge Dewight Mack said there have been a couple retirements from the department in recent years and those positions have not been filled. To help, the quorum court voted to move a part time employee into one of the vacant full time positions. No new additional money will be required for the position change.
