Numerous Unemployment Fraud Complaints Locally

Area law enforcement personnel are continuing to deal with a large number of reported unemployment fraud complaints in the area.

Howard County chief deputy John Eric Glidewell said victims will normally receive correspondence from the Division of Workforce Services in Little Rock. The letters are telling people that more information is needed in reference to their weekly claim for unemployment.

The scammers aren’t selective about whose information they’ve obtained. Deputy Glidewell said he and his wife have both received the letters.

If you get one of these fraudulent letters, you must first contact law enforcement to file a report. Once that has been done, you will need to take a copy of the report, along with a photo ID, to the unemployment office in Hope where they will begin the process of stopping the fake claim.

Nearly three dozen reports on the fake claims have already been made between the Howard County sheriff’s department and Nashville police department.
