Rotary speakers from UA Cossatot Foundation

Dustin Roberts and Erica Buenrostro from the UA Cossatot Foundation spoke to the members of the Nashville Rotary Club this week.

Buenrostro is a leader of the campus Rotaract Club. She said members helped register students to vote, participated in the Save Our Students week, which is the college version of Red Ribbon Week and filled boxes for Operation Christmas Child. She also reported five UA Cossatot Rotaract Club members participated in a virtual leadership institution.

Buenrostro also informed the Nashville Rotary Club that UA Cossatot is the only Hispanic Serving Institution in the state. She said for a college to be considered an HSI, the student population has to be 25 percent or more.

Roberts reported the UA Cossatot Foundation recently merged with the UA Foundation to help the college receive more return on their investments. He also explained what the purpose of the foundation is.

Roberts said the foundation awarded 50 scholarships for this year with funds raised through their fundraising efforts. He said the Legacy 2020 campaign is wrapping up this year, but they are starting the Blue Darter Heritage campaign to raise funds for the renovation of the Lockesburg Middle School.

Roberts said UA Cossatot will also be participating in the #Giving Tuesday event, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving on December 1.
