AAA released playoff brackets

High school football playoff brackets were announced Saturday by the Arkansas Activities Association. Due to COVID-19, all teams were eligible for the playoffs. Nashville is scheduled to host Waldron on November 20th. Waldron is one of the 4A teams who elected to “opt in” to the playoffs, even though they did not qualify by their season record. Waldron finished the year with a season record of 4 and 5, and was next to last in their conference.
Should the Scrappers win that game, Elkins would be the favorite to come to Scrapper Stadium Thanksgiving weekend. Beyond that, some other teams on Nashville’s half of the bracket include Mena, Star City, Arkadelphia, Warren, Prairie Grove, Monticello and Central Arkansas Christian.
Nashville will be the home team in all playoff games, until the state championship, which is now scheduled for December 19th, in Little Rock.

In the Class 2A bracket, Dierks will host Mountainburg Friday night. A possible week two playoff match up for the Outlaws would be a home game against Poyen, which is the only loss Dierks has suffered this season.
Other first round games for this week will have Mineral Springs traveling to Carlisle and Murfreesboro goes to Quitman.
