Above normal in rainfall in February

February was above normal in rainfall for the city of Nashville. Last month saw 4 and 26 hundredths inches of rain measured, which is a quarter inch above normal. Last month will forever be remembered for the record setting temperatures. During the week of February 14th, Nashville continually remained at or below the freezing mark for nearly 5 consecutive days. Numerous record temperatures were also during that stretch, including a new all time record low temperature of minus 14 degrees. High and low temperatures last month were each about 10 degrees below normal. It’s also the second coldest February on record in Nashville, only behind February 1978.
Concerning snowfall, we saw a total of 11 and a half inches last month, making it the snowiest February on record and the second snowiest month ever in Nashville.
For the year to date, precipitation continues above normal. Through the first two months of this year, Nashville has recorded almost 11 and a quarter inches of liquid precipitation, which is more than 3 and a half inches above normal for the year.
