Murfreesboro Makes Changes To Commission

The Murfreesboro city council has made some personnel adjustments to the town’s Advertising and Tourism Commission.

At Monday’s council meeting, aldermen Mark Barnes and Lewis Gills were appointed to the commission replacing chairperson Jean Floyd and commission member Laurie Westfall. The changes were made to bring the commission in compliance with state law requiring a pair of council members to serve on any commission that promotes advertising and tourism.

There was additional discussion regarding the commission. Members Misty Wilson and Ricky Branch both attended the council meeting. Branch submitted a letter to aldermen and did not speak. Wilson addressed the council regarding some recent actions that have taken place.

The council went into executive session at 6:47 PM and Wilson also participated in the closed door meeting. The council returned to open session at 7:05 and no action was taken.
