AGFC/AEDC Conservation Education Grant
With school back in session and education in full swing the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Education Division has announced funding availability for “Conservation education” in each Arkansas county. This funding derives from wildlife violations collected in each county. For example, the money collected here in Howard County due to an AGFC violation stays in Howard County to be directed back and used by our local schools. Last year roughly $735,000 was collected across the state and that number this year has increased to nearly $770,000 in fines collected. Programs that qualify for funding include those taking field trips to AGFC nature centers, AGFC-sanctioned archery and trap programs, AGFC-sponsored educator workshops, the creation of schoolyard habitat, and equipment used to teach wildlife biology, wildlife recreation, and conservation. Howard County’s portion of that $770,000 is $7,373 but may also include remaining money from last year’s allotted amount.
