AGFC Triple Trophy Award
With deer season well underway here in the Natural State the AGFC has announced the opportunity to receive the Triple Trophy Award. In order to qualify for this award hunters must, within a single annual deer season, take at least 1 deer by each of the three legal hunting methods: modern firearm, muzzleloader, and archery or crossbow.
This program began in 1984 to promote the then new, expanded deer hunting opportunities as well as shift the public perception of harvesting female deer. It’s believed that in the 1930s, only 500 deer were estimated to still exist in Arkansas. Unregulated hunting nearly caused the population to be completely wiped out. Since then, with regulations in place, the population has grown to healthy numbers and the harvest of does it encouraged so as to prevent too many deer from competing for limited resources.
If you find yourself having harvested a deer by means of each category the AGFC will send a certificate suitable for framing as well as a patch to place on your hunting vest or jacket. Visit AGFC.com for more details and happy hunting.
