Area law enforcement agencies respond to shooting incident in Mineral Springs
Police in Mineral Springs are investigating a shooting incident from the weekend. Police Chief Francisco Mercado said officers from his department, along with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and Nashville Police Department responded just after midnight Sunday morning to an unknown incident at a residence in the 400 block of North Street in Mineral Springs.
As officers arrived on scene, a vehicle fled east on North Street. Officers and deputies were able to stop the vehicle and made contact with an 18 year old male who appeared to have a gunshot wound on his right thigh. Upon further investigation, police believe the individual accidentally discharged his firearm while attempting to secure it in his vehicle. The victim was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital for treatment & is expected to make a full recovery.
