ADVA hosts photoshoot in honor of the 75th Anniversary of women being in the military
Last Month, the Arkansas Dept. of Veteran Affairs hosted a photoshoot for Women Veterans at Farm Bureau in Nashville in honor of the 75th Anniversary of women being in the military.

District 9 Veteran Service Officer for ADVA Sue Harper talked about how this was an ADVA initiative and she mentioned other Service Officers that play a part in the organization.
Harper talked about what this moment means to her to be able to honor women veterans in Arkansas and how her organization has been getting a lot of positive feedback.
Harper even mentioned when women veterans get together you hear a lot of veteran stories.
Harper discussed how the photos taken will be displayed at an upcoming event that will take place on November 4th of this year.
The Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) dates back to the post–World War I years and the need to care for Arkansas residents disabled during the war. It underwent transformation broadening its scope during World War II and following the Vietnam War. At present, ADVA operates two homes for disabled veterans, as well as two veterans’ cemeteries, and acts as a liaison for state residents and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Other benefits provided by ADVA include special license plates, tax exemptions, special hunting and fishing licenses, special camping rates, preference in state hiring, free tuition for spouses and children of veterans at state-supported institutions of higher education, and employment assistance.
