Area schools receive AEDC grants
The Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Division of Rural Services has awarded grants totaling more than $536,000 dollars. The monies help promote wildlife education and improve school conservation programs to schools and conservation districts in 65 Arkansas counties.
In Howard County, Nashville Primary School has received $2,000 dollars in funding to help with the school’s youth shooting sports program.
Money awarded in Pike county was given to the Centerpoint School District, and amounted to over $9,300 dollars. The money will help purchase items related to an outdoor classroom, including trees, shrubs, edging, mulch, top soil, and labor for area and outdoor tables and chairs.
The grant program is funded by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission through fines collected from hunting and fishing violations. Only money collected in the county where the violation occurred may be used as grant funds for that county. All schools in the state are eligible to participate in the program.
