Arkansas Scholarship Lottery held its very first Monday Powerball drawing yesterday. This drawing was set for $293 million. Traditionally drawings have been held on Wednesdays and Saturdays, however, feedback from players has indicated that a 3rd opportunity was desired. Eric Hagler, executive director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery says that, “Proceeds from draw game sales drive more money for scholarships, plus our retail partners receive a commission when a player cashes in  winning ticket that was sold at their store.”

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has raised more than $1 billion in proceeds for scholarships and awarded more than 650,000 scholarships since 2009.

According to data from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration total sales made by the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery throughout the state totaled just shy of $50 million for the month of July. $1.8m of that was spent specifically on the Powerball option. Howard County residents spent a total of $6,734 in the month of July for their chance to strike it rich with the Powerball. This puts the county in 22nd of 75 for highest spending counties on the Powerball. The highest in the state of Arkansas being Pulaski county with $391,000. The lowest in the state is Calhoun with $1,400. The next drawing will take place tomorrow night at 10 p.m..
