Arkansas State Police Release Details on Two Fatal Crashes in Prescott and Hope

The Arkansas State Police has released information regarding two separate fatal accidents that occurred recently in Prescott and Hope.

In the first incident, a 20-year-old Delight man was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Prescott.

According to a preliminary state police report, the crash occurred February 10 at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Highway 24. A 2015 Chevrolet driven by Colton Bailey, 20, of Delight, was traveling westbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned and ejected the driver.

Trooper Diondre Fuller investigated the crash.

In a separate incident in Hope, an 18-year-old man died following a sledding accident on January 26.

The preliminary report states that two individuals were riding on a sled being pulled by a 2010 GMC Terrain on East Jones Street at approximately 3:43 p.m. Humberto Nunes Vaca, 18, of Hope, was killed when he struck a metal pole while on the sled.

An unidentified minor who was also on the sled was injured and transported to Christus St. Michael Health System for treatment. In accordance with state police policy, the name of the minor was not released.

Authorities noted that the roadway was icy at the time of the crash. Officer Justin Dean with the Hope Police Department investigated the incident.

Both crashes remain part of official reports released by Arkansas State Police.
