Ashdown man arrested for possession of firearm
Drug and weapons possession charges have been filed against an Ashdown resident following an arrest this month in Nashville. Police reports say 22 year old Darius Young was the driver of a vehicle stopped for speeding by Nashville Police Lt. Clint Tedford. During the traffic stop, Officer Tedford said he observed a jar, containing a green, leafy substance, believed to be marijuana within plain view inside the vehicle. Young was placed into custody, with police learning that he was a convicted felon. During a search of the vehicle, authorities say they recovered a Glock 9 MM pistol in the rear pocket of the passenger seat.
Young was transported to the Howard County Jail and has been charged with a misdemeanor count of possessing a controlled substance and a felony charge for Possession of a Firearms by Certain Persons.
