Ashdown man facing several felonies for fleeing, warrants
An Ashdown man is facing multiple felony charges after reportedly leading officers on a high-speed pursuit.
According to records within the Little River Circuit Court, 31-year-old Chase Curtis Hinton is charged with domestic battery, terroristic threatening and fleeing – all felony counts – for an incident on July 7.
On that day, Ashdown Police Captain Zane Butler reported seeing Hinton driving a vehicle on North Constitution Avenue. Butler stated he knew Hinton to have a valid felony warrant for domestic battery and was sought after by Little River County deputies in the Wilton area.
When attempting to make a traffic stop, Butler said Hinton began to flee in his vehicle. Hinton allegedly traveled at 80 miles per hour through Ashdown and repeatedly drove his vehicle on both sides of the roadway in attempt to stop the officer from conducting a pursuit intervention technique.
Hinton then reportedly stopped his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Butler was able to catch up to the suspect and apprehend him without further incident.
Hinton is scheduled to reappear in court for a pre-trial hearing next month.
