Arkansas Democrat Gazette to Discontinue Home Delivery in southwest Arkansas

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette will be discontinuing home delivery to areas of southwest Arkansas soon. During an inquiry by Southwest Arkansas Radio, General Manager Lynn Hamilton declined to comment about the changes, however said that Publisher Walter Hussman Jr. would be speaking to area Rotary clubs very soon. The publication is expected to only be available in a digital format, beginning in the next few months. Nashville Chamber of Commerce Director Mike Reese says the newspaper has scheduled 3 days in February to meet with subscribers about the changes at the chamber office.

Information posted by The Magnolia Reporter in early December quoted Hussman as citing declining advertising revenue and transportation costs as reasons for discontinuing the print edition.

The newspaper made similar changes last year in northeast Arkansas, offering subscribers iPads to access a digital version of the newspaper.
