Two Fatal Accidents in Howard County

Two fatal accidents occurred in Howard County over the weekend. The first accident took place on Friday evening at 9:40 on Highway 278, east of Nashville. According to the Arkansas State Police, twenty six year old Gambino Martinez of Nashville was the driver of a 2011 Dodge vehicle, which was traveling eastbound. The vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree. Martinez was pronounced deceased by Howard County Coroner John Gray at Howard Memorial Hospital. Trooper Antonio May investigated the accident.

The second fatal accident happened early Sunday morning on state highway 84, north of Umpire. That single vehicle accident killed a Wickes individual and injured four others. According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary report, the accident occurred when the 2019 Chevy Traverse, headed westbound, ran off the right side of the roadway then over-corrected to the left and crossed both lanes of traffic. The vehicle then overturned several times before coming to rest. A passenger, 19 year old Rachel Rada Mae Norman of Wickes was pronounced deceased on scene by Howard County Coroner John Gray at 6:10 a.m. The driver, 21 year old Chance Austen Manasco of Cove, and three minors who were passengers were injured and taken to Mena Regional Health System and Children’s Hospital. Trooper First Class Mason Glasgow investigated the accident.
