Mineral Springs School Board Extends Superintendent Contract

The Mineral Springs School Board approved extending Superintendent Thelma Forte’s contract on a 4-3 vote at the board’s monthly meeting held this week. The board extended the contract by one year through the 2021 school year.

The board also approved renewing the contracts for Federal Programs Coordinator Wendy Reed, Elementary Principal Stacy Gauldin and High School Principal Clint Jones. The board also accepted the resignation of Steven Staggs.

In other business, Superintendent Forte informed the board that the school district and the City Park Commission had come to an agreement to lease the ballpark to the school district for baseball and softball games. Superintendent Forte said the lease was similar to ones used in the surrounding area, and it would be a lot cheaper for the district to go with the lease instead of building a two million dollar baseball/softball complex.

The board also approved the district’s facilities plan as presented.
