The Hempstead County Historical Society will be holding a meeting on Tuesday evening February 26, 2019 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington at 7pm located at the corner of Lawrence and Carroll Streets. Everyone is welcome. The evening program will be presented by Josh Williams on the history of the church missions set up by the Methodist Church to minister to the slaves before the Civil War in Hempstead County. It was from these mission that other denominations trace their roots such as the CME denomination. All are welcome to attend. The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
