The Howard County 4-H took part in the SeaPerch competition in Benton on Saturday. SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips youth with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting. Students build the ROV from a kit comprised of low-cost, easily accessible parts, following a curriculum that teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme.
Howard County did very well with the senior high team placing first overall, first in the challenge course, second in the obstacle course, and third with their presentation and notebook.
The junior team also placed second with their presentation.
The senior high seaperch team will advance to compete at Nationals in June at Maryland University.
