U.S. Congressman Bruce Westerman visited Texarkana on Tuesday to meet with city leaders. Congress is currently on recess and Westerman is meeting with constituents of the 4th Congressional District. A meet and greet and plant tour showcasing local industry took place yesterday morning at the Union Tank Car Facilities. The company recently refurbished the plant and has kickstarted some long-term economic opportunities that will be great for the local community.
At the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Rep. Westerman gave a brief speech on budget process, waterways, and infrastructure, highlighting the work he’s done on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Natural Resources Committee. He’s also the top Republican on the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, so he tied in some of those priorities as well.
