Kim Magee of the Arkansas Procurement Technical Assistance Center, a division of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Research and Extension System, talked to the Nashville Rotary club on Wednesday. Magee said the mission of the center is to assist Arkansas businesses who desire to seek government contracts with federal, state, and local agencies and departments. They collaborate with other agencies to ensure overall economic well-being in the state. Their service is free and most contracts are awarded to small businesses.
“We have 3 clients in Howard County and we are hoping that they eventually gain some government contracts.”
The federal government spent more than $544 billion nationally for contracts in 2018, $894 million of that amount was spent in Arkansas.
Approximately $413,000 was awarded in Howard County during 2018.
