Mineral Springs School Board April Meeting

Much of this week’s Mineral Springs School Board meeting centered around discussion concerning the custodial needs for the new school building. The board has considered contracting that service out and Classified Personnel Policy President Charles Gulley addressed the board about keeping those jobs with the school district. He informed the board that the district already owns 2 wet vacs and 2 scrubbers. Gulley had also obtained a quote for a floor scrubber machine. He said the district could keep the new facility clean with 9 to 12 employees.

The board accepted the resignations of Earle Haddan-Special Education Aide, Tina Arter-Science Teacher, Joni Terrell-Kindergarten Teacher, and Herbie Mitchell-Custodian. A motion to hire Janine Allen as Special Education & 605 LEA, and Aide Soto as a high school English teacher for the 2019-2020 school year was approved.

The Mineral Springs High School EAST Lab, members of the National Honor Society, and high school chess club gave presentations to the board, in addition to a review of the school literacy program.
