Physician with local ties to practice at Pine Bluff

A Nashville native is one of nine new resident physicians who will begin practicing medicine at UAMS South Central Regional Campus at Pine Bluff on July 1.

Dr. John R Johnson and eight other physicians are part of the family medicine residency program at UAMS South Central Regional Campus. Many of the health care providers in south central Arkansas were trained at the UAMS Family Medical Center at Pine Bluff, which provides primary care to patients of all ages.

Johnson graduated from Nashville High School in 1987 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Harding University. He later got his Masters degree in biology education and a Master of Arts in Chemistry from UALR. Dr. Johnson also taught for the Pulaski County Special School District for 12 years. He graduated from UAMS in May 2018 with a Masters Degree and interned this year. Johnson starts his three year residency at Pine Bluff in July. He is the son of Betty Johnson.
