School Bus Passing Survey

New information has been released in the Arkansas Department of Education illegal school bus passing survey. Two hundred and twenty seven school districts participated in the survey, which recorded 884 instances of school buses being passed illegally on April 24.

It is illegal to pass a school bus that is stopped and has its red lights flashing.

Hempstead and Pike Counties reported 2 illegal passings each on that date, while Howard County reported 1… Sevier County reported 5. The largest numbers were reported in Washington and Pulaski counties.

The legislature has approved Acts 166 of 2019 and Act 2128 of 2005 to strengthen penalties for passing a stopped school bus.
