Murfreesboro City Council Considers Rural Fire Protection Membership Policy

The Murfreesboro City Council is considering an ordinance for the town’s fire department that would establish a Rural Fire Protection Membership policy. This policy would allow the department to establish an annual fee system for residents with-in Murfreesboro’s fire district, but located outside the city limits. Currently the department primarily operates from State of Arkansas Act 833 funds, but these funds have limited uses and does not cover all needs. Dues from this new policy would be used to help operate, maintain, and improvement the Murfreesboro Volunteer Fire Department and the Lake Greeson Fire Station. The council did not take any action on the ordinance at this week’s meeting.

Council members did approve Ordinance 2019-4, which approved an application of the Timbers Supper Club for a private club license to be located at 24 Highway 27 North.
