Nashville School Board Discusses Building Projects

The Nashville School Board approved a $610,237 transfer to the district’s building fund at this week’s meeting. Act 1105 of 2017 limits the amount of fund balances a school district may maintain. If a public school district has a net legal balance that exceeds twenty percent of the public school district’s current year net legal balance revenues, the district must reduce that excess amount in five years time to no more than twenty percent of the current year net legal balance revenue. Superintendent Doug Graham said that anything transferred to the building fund must also have a specific purpose.

Board members discussed project proposals including a new facility to house restrooms, a locker room and concession at Wilson Park. Other projects include continued discussion about a fine arts facility and track updates at Scrapper Stadium.
