New Law to collect out of state Internet Sales Tax

A new law takes effect today that will require out of state internet retailers to begin collecting Arkansas sales and use taxes on all sales made through websites like Amazon and eBay. That includes other websites as well, according to Act 822. However, that only applies if the gross revenue of the business exceeded $100,000 in the previous calendar year or for retailers that sell goods for delivery in at least 200 separate transactions. State officials estimate the new law will raise about $35 million a year for the state and about $11 million for cities and counties.
