Howard County Fire Chiefs Association July Meeting

The Howard County Fire Chiefs Association met on Thursday. Much of the discussion included the flash flooding on Tuesday in Dierks and at Nashville. President Alan Green said everyone did exceptional work and risked their lives to ensure the safety of local residents. Firefighters worked in swift water to make several rescues, including some that drove vehicles around barricades. The Association wanted to remind the public to signup for the Code RED system, which will alert citizens by a telephone call or text message when a weather warning is issued. The service is offered free to the public and a link can be found on our website at southwestarkansasradio.com.

The group met at the former Nashville Fire Department building, a restoration project of the Howard County Historical Society. Each county department is being to asked for items to display in rooms that will contain historical items.

Green also reminded everyone of the Nashville Cuffs and Hoses blood drive, which will be held on July 25th from 2 until 7 p.m. The blood bus will be parked in front of the Nashville Fire Department.
