Nashville School Board Hires New NJHS Principal

During a special called Nashville School Board meeting on Thursday, board members approved the hire of Ashley Riggs as junior high school principal. She has worked for the district since 2008 in several positions…serving as ESL Coordinator and teaching 7th and 8th grades. District Superintendent Doug Graham said Riggs has been successful at every job and will do well as principal. There were a total of 13 applicants for the position. Graham also updated the board on recent flood damage to Nashville Primary and Elementary Schools.

Several parking lots, including Wilson Park, will require repairs. A bid of $159,700 has been received to make most of the necessary repairs to building and parking lot at Nashville Primary School. Restoration crews have already been working to remove water and humidity from the affected areas. Much of the fence surrounding the primary school playground on the north side is missing and a company is coming to inspect the playground equipment in the next few days.
