Mineral Springs School Board Reviews End of Year Financial Report

Much of Monday’s Mineral Springs School Board meeting included financial discussion. The board approved a transfer to the food service fund in order to compensate for a negative $96,000 balance in that account at the end of the school year. Board members had previously approved a salary schedule reflecting the $9.25 minimum wage increase, however approved an updated salary schedule listing a ten dollar minimum wage. Final numbers for last school year are still being calculated, however the district will need to transfer around one million dollars as carryover into the building fund, as per Act 1105. A single milk bid from Henderson Distributing Company was also approved.

Following an executive session, the Mineral Springs School Board made the following hires:

Helen Bell- Special Education Aide
Bobby Booker- Bus Driver
Gary Clemons and Don Marks for part time cleaning (4 hours per day)

Mineral Springs School District interim Superintendent Curtis Turner also recommended that the director of transportation position not be filled at this time.

The board approved Charlie Porter and Charles Gulley to share the duties and received a stipend of $5000. John Marshall will also receive $2000 for accepting extra duties in maintenance.

Board members also approved the resignation of Tracy Forte from Mineral Springs High School on a 5-1 vote.
