Extensive Fire Damage to Nashville Residence

The Nashville Fire Department responded to a residence fire at 7:14 Saturday morning at 606 Hempstead Street. Fire Chief Justin Thornton says as the department arrived, they observed the backside of the two story home fully involved. The fire extended into the second story and spread to the attic.

Due to low water pressure from nearby hydrants, assistance was requested from County Line and Yancey. Center Point also responded with a tanker truck.

Thornton says the house received extensive damage to the upstairs and rear portion. Firefighters remained on scene until about mid-day. The homeowner is currently living elsewhere while remodeling and was not present at the time of the fire. One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and was treated on scene by Pafford EMS. The fire remains under investigation at this time.
