NTSB Releases Report on plane crash near DeQueen

A report by the National Transportation and Safety Board with additional details on the August 4th plane crash near DeQueen has been released.

The report states the multi-engine Cessna 310, registered to Hwy 17 Trucking LLC in Lockesburg, Ark., was engaged in a maintenance test flight under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91.

The crash happened on August 4th, less than a mile south of the J. Lynn Helms Sevier County airport.

Sixty seven year old John Tackett of DeQueen died on impact and 77 year old Joe Greer of Horatio was injured in the crash.

The main wreckage consisted of the fuselage, both wings, both engines, the right propeller, the tail assembly and the tail. The report stated that it appeared the right wing impacted the ground first and was followed by the fuselage, with debris as far as 145 feet from impact.

The cause of the crash has not been determined and it could be between 12 and 18 months before the final NTSB report is released.
