Howard County Farmer’s Market Manager Julio Fuentes and Nashville Demonstration Organic Garden Coordinator Gerry Wenta talked about the need for additional funding and volunteers at Wednesday’s meeting of the Nashville Rotary club. The market provides the community with a source of nutritious locally grown produce and educational workshops to promote healthy foods and lifestyles.
In order to ensure success, this coming year they will be seeking to recruit new volunteers to help facilitate their organic garden and Kidz Klub activities. Wenta says there is a need for more volunteers and financial assistance for upcoming projects.
They are working towards installing new electrical outlets to the Kidz Klub building and making improvements to the organic garden’s existing water lines. In addition, they would like to raise funds for installing much needed outdoor ceiling fans at the pavilion. They are also looking for other local organizations to partner with who might want to develop programs to utilize the greenhouse.
