The Arkansas Assessment Coordination Department says an error made by a third party vendor has provided incorrect vehicle values to counties in Arkansas. The incorrect data for new and used automobiles…and light duty pickups could result in an increase in personal property taxes due in 2020.
Local county assessors pointed out the low numbers, however many of those assessments have already been amended.
Officials with the Howard County Assessor’s office will be sending out over 5000 amended assessments by the end of this week, to let people know about the value changes. Your assessment should not increase, unless you have purchased a new vehicle.
The Pike County Assessor’s Office says if you received an amended assessment notice that this is simply a correction to current values and will not change your current tax bill. There will be no extra payment required. The total dollar amount for many of those assessments will be lower than the previous year.
If you have any questions, please contact your county assessor.
