Arkansas Concerned About Rural Broadband and Feral Hogs

Two key issues being discussed in Arkansas could see additional funding soon. U.S. Congressman Bruce Westerman says the farm bill passed at the end of 2018 contained funding for rural broadband, as well as funds to eradicate feral hogs.

The Dierks City Council noted at a meeting this week that the wild hogs had been a nuisance at the city park recently and would be addressing that issue.

The Arkansas Senate on Tuesday passed SB150, which seeks to expand the benefits of reliable high speed broadband to all residents of the state and allow government entities to construct or own telecommunication services and make it available to the public.

The bill has been referred to the state House Insurance and Commerce Committee.
