Bike Lanes and Pedestrian Improvements a possibility for 4th Street Nashville

The Nashville City Council adopted a resolution Tuesday that would add bike lanes and other pedestrian improvements to 4th Street. Council members passed Resolution 2019-04 which states that the city would fund a twenty percent local match to an eighty percent federal participation of the project. Public Works Director Larry Dunaway says this is the next application in the Transportation Alternatives Program that has funded the first two sidewalk phases.

“This is after we get phase II done down to Sypert Street. It will allow us to install bike lanes and sidewalks on both side of the street. The project will also include curb and gutter all the way from Bishop Street to probably Henderson Street. If funds allow, we might could take it even further.”

The next sidewalk project down Sunset Street in Nashville should begin accepting bids soon.
