Members of the Percy & Donna Malone Child Safety Center, Pike County elected officials, Department of Human Services, Pike County Sheriff CID, and Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce gathered together with Pike County Judge Dewight Mack as he signed a proclamation on Monday for the month of April to be designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Pike County. Child Advocate Adam Godwin, Awareness Adovcate Tawana Williams and Foresenic Interviewer Stephanie Hrabel of the Percy & Donna Malone Child Safety Center shared information on child abuse and how the facility in Arkadelphia provides a safe place for child abuse victims. Godwin says they simply want to spread awareness and involve the community in stressing the importance of early intervention.
The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce also conducted a project in selling “stand up for children” t-shirts to spread awareness about child abuse.
