Former President Bill Clinton spoke Saturday at the annual Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet held at Hempstead Hall. Clinton, the keynote speaker, was born in Hope in 1946. He served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. Clinton, Mack McLarty and Joe Purvis shared stories about growing up in Hope.
Dixie Coffee, coordinator for The CALL in Hempstead County, received the 2019 Citizen of the Year award. Robin Townsend received the Educator of the Year award.
More than 1200 people attended the event.
