The Murfreesboro Church of Christ recently raised over $2,000 during a fundraiser held last Sunday for the CADC Senior Adult Activity Center at Murfreesboro. Site Coordinator Vicki Hutson says the center just started a new budget year and largely depends on donations to help keep the meals on wheels program running. Around 65 volunteers assist monthly in helping to deliver meals, with area churches making deliveries in Murfreesboro. The CADC also uses two vans to deliver meals in Pike County. Hutson says they delivered 1400 meals last month and served around 744 clients inside the center. Without donations from local government and individuals, the center would not be able to run the nutrition program. Hutson said in an interview that there is a giant need for people to know how much help the need. The CADC Murfreesboro Senior Adult Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 until 4 and serves meals on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. To learn more or to volunteer, call 870-285-2312.
